About the role
The clinical dietitian is responsible for the nutritional care of in-patients and out-patients. Duties include assessment of nutrition status, development of care plans, follow up, education, and nutrition related order writing privileges.
Responsibilities
- Assure appropriate and continual care of patients through verbal communication with members of the health care team as well as written documentation in the medical record.
- Care provided is tailored to patient needs including learning needs, age-specific and addresses cultural/religious considerations.
- Demonstrates competency in the nutritional care of patients including age specific, learning and cultural/religious needs.
- Adheres to the standards of professional practice as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or food and nutrition with completion of dietetic internship.
- Master’s degree and membership in Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
- Completion and maintenance of registration as a dietitian as provided for by the Commission on Dietetic Registration through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Will accept eligibility to complete Registration provided it is completed within 3 months of hire.
- Licensed in state of Ohio to practice dietetics as provided by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
- One year work experience in hospital setting as RD, LD preferred.
- Specialty certification in nutrition support, renal, oncology, gerontology or diabetes education desirable.
