Responsibilities
- Serve as a clinical authority to dental hygiene faculty and staff on dental-related matters
- Diagnose oral pathologies and make appropriate referrals to medical and/or dental professionals
- Evaluate and identify oral lesions, anomalies, or deviations from the norm
- Review patient radiographs and provide diagnostic assessments based on findings
- Evaluate and provide feedback to students on patient care processes and outcomes
- Consult with patients to explain and review treatment plans
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical assessments
- Provide constructive feedback and support to students to help them achieve academic and professional success
- Identify and report on any at-risk students; creates individualized success plans to mitigate attrition
- Foster and maintain an orderly, controlled, and safe environment for students in classrooms and labs
- Maintain and prepare training aids, tools, and equipment in the classroom and lab
- Maintain curriculum accuracy by keeping up to date on industry standards and practices
- Deliver engaging lectures and lab sessions on assigned topics, diagnostic procedures, equipment operation and troubleshooting, etc.
Qualifications
- Licenses/Certifications: Active and unencumbered Dentist license in the state where instruction/practice occurs (required)
- Education & Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience as a practicing dentist (required); Graduate of an accredited dental program (required); Prior experience in the education industry (required)
