Clinical Data Engineer

About the role

6-12 month contract position requiring GxP experience. Candidates must be available to work in EST or CST time zones.

Education & Competencies

Education/Experience: BS/BA (or equivalent) plus 3+ years in data engineering, pipeline development/operations, and multi-source data integration (clinical/biopharma preferred).

Core Skills

• Foundational SQL skills
• Understanding of basic data modeling and data quality checks
• Familiarity with integration patterns (NoSQL exposure a plus)

Programming & SDLC

• Proficiency in Python (preferred) or R
• Exposure to building/supporting pipelines with basic testing, logging, and monitoring
• Familiarity with Agile/SDLC concepts
• Jira/Confluence experience preferred (or ability to learn quickly)

Visualization & Reporting

• Hands-on experience designing and supporting operational dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and/or QlikView
• Understanding of data refresh, access controls, and performance considerations

Data Standards

• Awareness of CDISC/CDASH/SDTM concepts (preferred)
• Willingness to learn how standards impact downstream clinical deliverables

Data Formats & Interfaces

• Hands-on with CSV, JSON, XML and file/API-based integrations
• Able to follow transfer specifications and validate outputs

Cloud Platforms

• Exposure to AWS and/or Azure and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Spark) (preferred)
• Ability to implement within established frameworks and standards

DevOps

• Working knowledge of GitHub/GitLab version control
• CI/CD exposure is a plus

GxP & Data Integrity

• Experience or exposure to GxP-regulated practices (documentation, change control, audit readiness) (preferred)
• Understanding of data integrity expectations
• Able to follow controlled procedures and maintain required evidence
