Job Description
The UCC Coordinator-RN provides clinical leadership, operational coordination, staff development, and direct patient care within Urgent Care Center (UCC) operations. Working collaboratively with providers, practice leadership, and clinical staff, this role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring efficient daily operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serves as the clinical lead and resource for nursing and support staff across assigned Urgent Care Centers.
- Assists providers with clinical assessments, treatments, procedures, and patient care activities.
- Promotes adherence to evidence-based practice, infection prevention standards, clinical protocols, and organizational policies.
- Supports quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Serves as a role model for professional nursing practice, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
- Provides guidance and support in addressing clinical concerns, workflow issues, and patient service challenges.
Operational Coordination
- Collaborates with operational leadership to identify, address, and resolve workflow and service delivery challenges.
- Supports clinic performance goals related to patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, throughput, and operational effectiveness.
- Affords staffing coverage and resource allocation across multiple Urgent Care locations as needed.
- Maintains clinic readiness, equipment functionality, medical supplies, and inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Promotes a culture of exceptional customer service and patient experience.
- Affords implementation of new workflows, operational initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
Clinical Education and Professional Development
- Supports orientation and onboarding of newly hired clinical staff.
- Develops, coordinates, and facilitates ongoing educational programs for nursing and support staff.
- Identifies training needs and creates learning opportunities to support clinical excellence and career development.
- Conducts and supports annual competency assessments, skills validations, and continuing education requirements.
- Provides training related to new equipment, clinical workflows, policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
- Facilitates cross-training initiatives to improve workforce flexibility and operational effectiveness.
- Serves as a mentor, coach, and resource for clinical and support team members.
- Partners with operational leadership to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Encourages specialty certification attainment and participation in professional development opportunities.
Direct Patient Care
- Provides direct nursing care to patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Performs patient assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation consistent with professional nursing standards and scope of practice.
- Administers treatments, medications, and procedures as ordered and appropriate to the urgent care setting.
- Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Demonstrates competency in caring for patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and urgent care needs.
- Responds appropriately to medical emergencies and assists in coordinating emergency interventions when necessary.
