Clinical Coordinator – Dental Assistance Program

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all educational and clinical components of the EFDA program.
  • Maintain OSHA, clinical, and safety manuals in alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Implement and oversee risk prevention systems to ensure compliance with government and professional regulations.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with CODA accreditation standards.
  • Identify and report clinical management issues to the Program Director and collaborate on resolutions.
  • Secure awards and scholarship support for student recognition events through dental industry partnerships.
  • Participate in institutional initiatives that support program growth and performance.

Didactic & Clinical Instruction

  • Deliver curriculum using current, evidence-based instructional methodologies.
  • Update coursework to reflect evolving dental practices, technologies, and industry standards.
  • Complete and submit student assessment outcomes at the end of each term.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours for student advising and support.
  • Participate in student recruitment efforts, including candidate interviews and admissions support.
  • Lead and support student involvement in community service initiatives related to dental health.

Clinical Supervision & Operations

  • Provide a minimum of 12 hours of clinical supervision per week during each semester.
  • Manage clinical schedules and rotations to ensure students meet procedural requirements.
  • Evaluate student performance, maintain accurate clinical records, and conduct regular competency reviews.
  • Care for and track laboratory case intake within clinical systems.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of clinical supplies, ensuring availability of materials.
  • Maintain clean, organized clinical environments in collaboration with students.
  • Oversee maintenance and servicing of clinical equipment, including autoclave and sterilization units, and report repair needs promptly.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Licensure:
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Master’s degree in Education, Health Science, or related field preferred.
    • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from an accredited institution may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree.
    • Active EFDA license or valid dentist license (DDS/DMD).
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) through DANB (preferred or required based on state guidelines).
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Mandated Reporter certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an EFDA or practicing dentist.
    • Prior teaching experience in didactic and/or clinical settings preferred.
    • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional methods, and student evaluation practices.
    • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
    • Ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, and external partners in a professional environment.
