Clinical Associate Physician- Nocturnist- Los Alamitos

About the role

The Nocturnist Physician provides Hospital Medicine services for the UCI Health - Los Alamitos Hospital inpatient medicine wards exclusively during overnight hours. Key responsibilities include supervision of APP staff, handling after-hours admissions from the Emergency Department, managing cross-covered admitted patients, and stabilizing acute conditions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise APP staff during overnight shifts
• Handle after-hours admissions from the Emergency Department
• Manage cross-covered admitted patients
• Stabilize acute changes in patient condition
• Timely handoff of all overnight events and pending clinical issues to the incoming day Hospitalist team

Requirements

• Hold an M.D./D.O./MBBS or equivalent degree
• Unrestricted California state medical license
• Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes
• Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives while in compliance of all UC policies and procedures
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all state and federal privacy laws

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility to obtain an unrestricted CA Medical License
• ABIM Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes
• Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach in the care of patients
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives while in compliance of all UC policies and procedures
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all state and federal privacy laws

Pay

Base salary compensation based on MGMA benchmarks for a Clinical Associate within this specialty is $332,000 - $386,615. In addition, candidates have the potential to earn incentives on top of their base salary contingent on performance and experience.
