Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work (12-month)

Quinnipiac University’s School of Health Sciences seeks a full-time, 12-month Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work to join a rapidly growing Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The successful candidate will teach and advise in both on-campus and online formats, contribute to service activities, and be on campus at least three days per week. The expected start date is January 2027.

About The School/Program

The School of Health Sciences enrolls over 2,500 students across 30 graduate and undergraduate programs in seven departments. Undergraduate majors include biomedical sciences, diagnostic medical sonography, exercise science, health science studies, medical microbiology & immunology, and radiologic sciences. Graduate programs include advanced medical imagining & leadership, biomedical sciences, cardiovascular perfusion, occupational therapy, pathologists’ assistant, physician assistant, physical therapy, and social work. The school also offers entry-level dual-degrees for occupational therapy, physician assistant, and physical therapy.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Quinnipiac University, the School of Health Sciences, and the Department of Social Work.
• Teach courses across the generalist and specialized MSW curriculum in online and/or on-campus formats.
• Advise and mentor MSW students, including monitoring academic progress, professional development, and competency attainment.
• Participate in department-required faculty activities, service at the department, school, and university levels, and student recruitment events (e.g., welcome weekend, admitted students’ weekends, and open houses).
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair, Associate Chair, or Associate Director of Online MSW Education.

Requirements

• Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited institution in the United States.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years post-MSW social work practice.
• MSW or BSW teaching experience in online (asynchronous, synchronous) and in-person formats.
• Social Work State Licensure (LMSW/LCSW).
• Willingness to develop and build MSW courses.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in social work or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Full-time MSW teaching experience in online (asynchronous, synchronous) and in-person formats.
• Experience building online MSW courses in Canvas.
• Experience with student advising, retention, and support in online and/or in-person learning environments.
• Leadership experience at the department or program level.
• Interest in higher education leadership, including program development and academic administration.
• Experience serving as lead faculty to support part-time faculty.
• Proven ability to foster inclusive, equitable environments for teaching, learning, and social work practice.
• Scholarship and creative works, particularly related to teaching and learning.
