Pay

The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. The compensation details listed reflect base salary only.

  • Minimum: $100,000.00 Annually
  • Maximum: $110,000.00 Annually

About the Role

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, provide direct patient care at affiliated external clinical sites and/or in the Optometry Service at the WesternU Health Eye Care Institute (ECI) and teach in the clinical education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in clinical education programs.
  • Provide patient care, either directly or with student interns, at the Eye Care Institute in the WesternU Health Patient Care Center.
  • Provide patient care, either directly or with student interns, at affiliated external clinical sites as assigned.
  • Drive personal vehicle to external clinical sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry degree required.
  • License to practice optometry in California.
  • One to three years' experience in an optometric clinical practice or completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Valid driver's license and maintain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that satisfies the requirements of the WesternU Vehicle Use Policy.

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of theoretical and clinical optometry.
  • Knowledge of special emphasis within optometric scope of practice and its application to clinical optometry.
  • Able to provide clinical care to patients and clinical education to students and residents.
  • Able to interact and communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, administration, and outside constituents; be culturally sensitive and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
