Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Director- ONMM Residency Program

About the role

The Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) seeks an academic/clinical faculty member to teach clinical skills, lecture, assist with standardized patient testing of students, grade, and participate in clinical clerkship rotations. Additionally, this individual will oversee the program directorship for the ONMM Residency Program at the Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinic, manage resident schedules, supervision, and assessments, and provide direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Teach clinical lectures, develop learning objectives and examination questions, and participate in faculty retreats.
• Assist in the development and scoring of Osteopathic Standardized Patient Examinations.
• Remediate students who fail OSCE examinations or require additional preparation for COMLEX-USA examinations.
• Engage in scholarly activities such as osteopathic research, quality improvement projects, and presentations at conferences.
• Mentor students and residents in scholarly work and provide career counseling.
• Serve on committees related to the University, Department of AZCOM Clinical Education, Department of Osteopathic Family & Community Medicine, ONMM residency, and MWU Multispecialty Clinic.
• Supervise resident schedules and maintain accreditation of the ONMM Plus One program through ACGME.
• Recruit residents for each class and document regular milestone evaluations for the residents.
• Participate in AZCOM applicant interviews and remain current and board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
• Maintain patient care in the Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinic and advise student clubs as needed.

Requirements

• Graduation from a COCA-accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
• Board certification in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
• An active, unrestricted license in the State of Arizona.
• Ability to be insured for malpractice liability.
• To apply for hospital privileges as needed for resident training.

Qualifications

Applicant must be a board certified Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine specialist with an active, unrestricted license in Arizona. They should also have a strong commitment to teaching, scholarly activity, and patient care.
