About the role
Wilcox Medical Center, founded in 1938 and part of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, is the largest medical center on Kaua‘i. It operates as a state-of-the-art acute care facility with 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and urology. The medical center features an 18-bed emergency department serving as the island’s Primary Stroke Center, four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds, and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is Hawai‘i’s first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center. The Medical Surgical department delivers competent and safe care to patients requiring acute nursing interventions of 24 hours or more within surgical/medical and oncology services, focusing on recovery from serious illness, orthopedic issues, and major surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in performing nursing and health care service procedures.
- Provide certain clerical services in support of clinical operations.
- Uphold the highest standards of excellence in health care within the Medical Surgical department.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families in a warm and caring environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a nurse aide course with certification or completion of nursing fundamentals.
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Hawai‘i Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.
- One year of clerical experience in a health care setting.
Schedule
Rotating schedule, 12-hour shifts.
Pay
$23.90 – $26.55 per hour.
