Job Duties

  • Rooming of clients including height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, and color vision screening.
  • Completes and documents all necessary medical records for nurse visits, patient encounters, and medication refills.
  • Administers and documents oral and injectable medications and vaccinations.
  • Accurately prepares and routes electronic and faxed medication refill requests.
  • Schedules appointments, verifies insurance, checks in for appointments, coordinates patient referrals, and manages insurance medication prior authorizations.
  • Coordinates supply orders and restocks supplies, and accurately documents phone calls and patient care.
  • Performs and documents phlebotomy, EKGs, and waived lab tests.
  • Aids in patient care coordination by assisting physicians, PAs, and CNPs with diagnostic testing and referrals.
  • Data collection for quality initiatives.
  • Serves on various committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Trains and provides a productive learning environment for students, externs, and new staff.

Requirements

  • BLS Certification
  • Certification or registration from an accrediting body such as the AAMA or the ARMA (must pass Certified Medical Assistant exam within six months of hire)
  • Minnesota practical nursing license through the Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, policies, procedures, and medical ethics
  • Excellent communication skills across disciplines and at various levels
  • Attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Basic computer skills and comprehension including Word

Qualifications

  • Health care/clinic experience
  • Phlebotomy and lab experience
  • X-Ray certification and/or experience
