About the role

Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions located at the Bell County Jail in Belton, TX, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Administers medications and documents as ordered. Adheres to facility policy and procedure for medication administration.
  • Measure and record vital signs: Vital signs, blood sugars, and weights performed as ordered by the provider. Abnormal vital signs reported immediately.
  • Assist Providers and nurses with examinations and minor procedures: Competently assists with examinations and minor procedures.
  • Creates clinic schedules and provides patient data for reporting: Manage and updates clinic schedules to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Prepares examination rooms, cleans equipment, and stocks clinical supplies.
  • Documents patient care activities accurately: Completes documentation promptly and accurately. Follows facility and clinical standards.
  • Supports infection control and safety practices: Consistently follows infection control and safety protocols, including hand hygiene and proper PPE use.
  • Other clinical duties as assigned: Willingly accepts and completes additional tasks as directed.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an approved, certified program for assistants in the area of the required specialty.
  • Certification by an approved, accredited certifying agency in the specialty in which the particular work will be performed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with health technology systems: electronic health records and medication administration reporting systems.
  • Experience in a correctional setting.
