About the role

As a Clinical Assessment Specialist, you will be a critical member of our hospital business development team, helping to get patients admitted to our acute inpatient rehabilitation hospitals quickly so they can receive the care and services they need. This position supports field clinical liaisons with patient assessment completion and pull-through, offering a unique opportunity to impact patient care from the business side of healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Admissions Departments to secure insurance authorization and/or coordination of benefits necessary for admission.
  • Assess a patient’s eligibility for rehabilitation services in consultation with field Clinical Liaisons or the Director of Business Development.
  • Review and analyze medical records and history to determine suitability for rehabilitative services.
  • Prepare and complete a detailed preadmission assessment timely and thoroughly, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with hospital leadership, DBD, and clinical liaisons to provide market intelligence and share strategies and results.
  • Ensure adherence to all policies governing commercial pre-certification and authorization to minimize financial risk.
  • Maintain relationship profiles for payor case managers and medical directors.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). Multi-state licensure required based on geographical territory.
  • Two years of related experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated competency with the preadmission process.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
