Clinical Advisor Wound Ostomy Nurse ARTC

Full-time, exempt position at the Administrative Regional Training Center. Work schedule: Days, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

About the Role

The Clinical Advisor, Wound-Ostomy Nurse is a registered nurse specializing in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, and/or continence disorders. This role directs, coordinates, and evaluates patient care within their expertise, providing consultation and education for patients and Catholic Health clinical staff. The nurse supports nursing care management, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based care, and updates clinical practice based on current research and patient/family needs. They work collaboratively with hospital nursing staff, the wound care center, and other departments to ensure a seamless transition of services.

Requirements

• Current New York State RN License.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or enrolled in a BSN program with completion within three (3) years of hire.
• Master’s degree in nursing or education preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Certification in wound/ostomy care preferred (enrollment in a certification program with completion within two (2) years accepted in lieu of certification).
• Two (2) years of nursing experience, preferably in medical-surgical settings.
• One (1) year of clinical nursing experience in caring for patients with abdominal stomas, draining wounds, fistulas, or pressure ulcers preferred.
• Two (2) years of patient and/or staff teaching experience.

Skills

• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of current wound care technology and products.
• Familiarity with Department of Health regulations.
• Ability to provide direction and motivate workforce.

Working Conditions

• Travel between facilities required.
• Facility-specific weekend or evening hours may be required.
• May be required to transport educational materials.
• Outpatient ostomy visits at the Wound Center.
