Part-time, contract position reporting to the Clinical Education Manager (operational functions) and Course Chair (academic oversight). Effective July 16, 2026.
About the Role
The clinical instructor for the University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program supervises nursing students in the clinical environment, providing consistent and timely formative and summative feedback. This role evaluates student clinical performance, grades all clinical assignments, and creates a dynamic, learner-centered environment that supports diverse learning needs based on educational theory and evidence-based teaching practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee clinical rotations for nursing students.
- Manage post-conference meetings.
- Develop engaging lesson plans and ensure relevant learning resources are available.
- Apprise students of their progress at the mid-term point and for those not meeting expectations, establish a mutual learning plan to achieve syllabus goals.
- Notify the course chair of at-risk students as soon as identified and provide weekly updates.
- Complete final evaluation of student performance and submit grades (midterm and final) on time.
Requirements
- Complete required orientation for adjunct faculty.
- Submit the following to the American Data Bank/Complio Portal:
- Malpractice Insurance (annually)
- RN License
- Physical Examination (annually)
- QuantiFERON or Tuberculin Skin Test (annually; if positive, a negative chest x-ray report is required every 5 years)
- Flu Vaccine (annually)
- COVID-19 Vaccine & Booster
- Record of Vaccination History (Hepatitis B, Varicella, and MMR)
- Tdap Vaccination (every 10 years)
- Varicella IGG
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella IGG
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody IGG (antibodies show immunity)
- Hepatitis B Surface Antigen IGG (antigen confirms negative for HepB virus)
- Hepatitis C sAB IGG
- Medical Release Form (complete electronically in Complio)
- BLS Certification
- Meningitis (proof of vaccination or declination form)
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (required).
- Current, undisciplined RN license to practice professional nursing in NY and/or CT.
- Minimum of two (2) years recent clinical experience.
- Current clinical expertise in the assigned area and knowledge of adult learning principles.
- CPR Certification (required).
Schedule
- 8-hour shift, one day per week (Monday to Saturday).
- Part-time, 29 hours or less per week.
Pay
$72.00 to $76.00 per hour (based on clinical section).
Work Location
Manhattanville Campus.
