Clinical Account Executive - Oncology - Rochester, NY

About the Role

This territory covers Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Birmingham, Jamestown, and Ithaca areas, with the ideal candidate located in Rochester or Buffalo, NY. The role focuses on developing and maintaining strategic business relationships with Oncology departments and practices, engaging with a wide range of healthcare professionals to drive education, business growth, and market share for assigned Oncology products and indications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strategic business relationships with Oncologists, Hematologists, Pharmacists, Nurses, executive-level personnel, department heads, managers, and support staff to increase education on product benefits/risks, drive new business, improve resource utilization, and achieve sales plans.
  • Understand and address customer needs, building strong relationships that provide market intelligence and support compliant, innovative programs.
  • Partner with in-house and cross-franchise leaders to design and adapt appropriate approaches and tactics for the geography.
  • Deliver effective on-label technical and scientific presentations using approved data to highlight product benefits and risks, ensuring sales quota achievement.
  • Serve as the lead US Commercial contact for targeted accounts, collaborating with AbbVie teams (Brand and Strategic Marketing, GPO team, Thought Leader Liaisons, MSLs, contracted SPPs) to provide excellent customer support.
  • Build, implement, communicate, and update strategic and tactical business plans for targeted accounts.
  • Facilitate site physician/treatment team training on the approved and safe use of AbbVie’s products in collaboration with sales leadership.
  • Monitor and report sales progress, providing routine communications to internal and external partners.
  • Act as the key point of contact for each account, coordinating support and ensuring timely resolution of customer questions or requests.
  • Attend and actively participate in local clinician boards, societies, and HCP meetings to represent AbbVie and assigned products, building relationships and sharing key insights.
  • Stay current on clinical, market, and payer developments, trends, and issues specific to oncology and relevant disease areas.
  • Complete all required AbbVie training and adhere to company policies and OEC/Legal procedures.
  • Seek out and articulate important information to internal partners, integrating methodologies that add value for customers and patients.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of approved product labels and disease state knowledge for impactful customer interactions.
  • Optimize external and internal data, resources, and tools to identify sales opportunities and develop program strategies for assigned territories.
  • Actively participate in relevant organizational programs in local markets, with legal/OEC approval.
  • Develop expertise in available selling resources and tools to support strategies and maximize impact.
  • Meet healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements, which may include background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination.

Requirements

  • Business savvy with analytical ability to assess diverse data sets and define account/program strategies that drive business objectives.
  • Understanding of how to effectively meet customer needs in a complex environment through innovative strategies aligned with company and customer goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead without direct authority and develop teams on complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Persistence and grit with a strong track record of success in challenging environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test while meeting safe driving requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology Sales experience or Oncology-specific clinical experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Account Management experience in any industry.
  • Specialty Pharmacy experience.
  • Healthcare industry experience, especially working with patients or consulting healthcare companies.
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
