What you'll be doing

  • Accountable for the safe and effective transition of consumers through Ambulatory, Acute, Rehabilitation and Community based MHDA services.
  • Inclusive of State Network Services such as Mental Health Intensive Care (MHICU) and Children and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) beds and those consumers that require access from within NSLHD Acute Facilities to MHDA services.
  • Achieved through the application of strong leadership, advanced analytical and negotiation skills working within a collaborative model across a range of stakeholders and people with a lived experience within NSLHD, MHDA Services and external agencies.
  • Provides leadership and support to the NSLHD Patient and Transfer Unit (PATU) to coordinate MHDA consumer transfers between Hospitals, admissions via community services, and external agencies into NSLHD MHDA services.
  • Provides strong collaborative leadership to ensure MHDA Services meet and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI) within NSLHD MHDA Services and Ministry of Health (MOH), which includes monitoring and reporting of KPI.
  • The position supports directed MHDA National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).
  • The position requires advanced clinical, communication and interpersonal skills which facilitates the ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams. Achieve efficient and effective patient flow ensuring MHDA consumers receive the right care at the right time in the right place.
  • The position has line management responsibility for MHTAL and reporting of KPI to the MOH and MHDA Services.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria

  • Current Registered Nurse Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the NSW Health policy framework, priorities and performance indicators and their impact on mental health Patient flow.
  • Demonstrated high level written, timely and accurate standards of work, complimented by oral communication skills and ability for preparing and presentation of reports to MHDA Executive, NSLHD and MOH. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of programs, data analysis and patient flow tools such as Electronic Journey Board and Patient Flow Portal.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team. Highly developed time management, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
