About the role

The Clinic Supervisor is responsible for leading the clinic team in partnership with the Lead Veterinarian, ensuring that the MSPCA-Angell Clinic achieves its purpose to assure and maintain the health of the animals in the shelter as well as those treated through low-cost public programs. The Supervisor provides skilled and supportive people management, effectively directs operational flow, and maintains a high visibility throughout the work shift. They are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the flow of patient care within the department, redirecting staff as needed throughout a shift. Training and mentorship are foundational aspects of the Clinic Supervisor role. They work alongside the clinic staff, performing the duties expected of a clinic technician as necessary during a shift.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assign work for clinic staff including veterinary students and volunteers that fully supports all clinic services, veterinarians, and service technicians, and that is communicated in an appropriate, timely and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in animal restraint including low stress handling techniques for all patients.
  • Advocate for superior handling and demonstrate and help others troubleshoot effective low stress handling solutions.
  • Assist the veterinarians and other team members with medical and surgical procedures, including working knowledge of venipuncture, IV catheter placement, intubation, cystocentesis, surgical preparation, monitoring anesthetized patients and their recovery, taking radiographs.
  • Work closely with the Director, Vet Med & Community Initiatives to support smooth operations; raise topics in a timely manner in order to troubleshoot challenges and support sustainability and evolution of MSPCA veterinary operations in Cape Cod, MA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of veterinary practice experience.
  • At least one year of customer service experience is preferred.
  • Certified veterinary technician (CVT) through the Massachusetts Veterinary Technician Association (MVTA) or eligible for certification through out-of-state reciprocity is preferred.
  • Fear-free certification or completion within the first 6 months of hire is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more with assistance and up to 25 pounds independently.

Pay

Pay range is $35–$39/hr. Candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications.
