About the Role

Provide expert, full-spectrum pediatric care in a sole community-focused hospital and clinic located in a rural setting. In collaboration with advanced practice providers and other team members, deliver effective and efficient medical care services, consultation, and supervision to pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, order, and interpret appropriate labs, and treat pediatric patient injuries and illnesses.
  • Perform thorough examinations (including wellness checks), consultations, prescribe medication, and oversee immunization needs and administration.
  • Provide education and guidance regarding overall health, development, and wellbeing to child’s caretaker(s) or support system.
  • Monitor and promote overall health and normal physical development of newborns, young children, and adolescents.
  • Adapt assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including primary care physicians and other specialists.
  • Participate in committees and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training to medical staff, students, and residents as needed.
  • Remain available for consultation, assist with medical emergencies, and make patient referrals.
  • Engage with the local community to promote pediatric health and wellness through outreach programs and health fairs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients and their support systems.
  • Review patient records and maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and medical standards.
  • Participate in program evaluation and policy reviews.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, including CME if required.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including respirator and fit testing for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet-producing procedures, or caustic chemicals.
  • Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a pediatric residency program.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics.
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Current DEA and BNDD numbers.
  • Proficiency in children’s epidemiology and infectious diseases.
  • Strong pediatric diagnostic and clinical skills, including a proactive, coordinated approach for children with complex chronic medical conditions.
  • Ability to prescribe drugs/medication appropriate for children, including educating others on side effects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Electronic Health Record tools.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to urgent situations.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • For positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Additional Requirements

This is a safety-sensitive position as defined by Oklahoma law. Applicants cannot test positive for THC (including with a valid medical marijuana card). Required vaccinations per DRH policy, with medical and religious exemptions available upon request. Respirator and fit testing required for exposure risks.
