Clinic Med Office Specialist

About the Role

Performs receptionist duties and provides clerical support for the office. Greets patients and interfaces with hospital staff, clinical staff, patients, and visitors in a professional manner. May be responsible for obtaining prior authorization for office referrals and applying knowledge of current clinical diagnosis and billing codes.

Samaritan Gastroenterology serves Linn, Benton, Lincoln, and parts of Marion and neighboring counties. Our team of physicians, physician associates, nurses, and support staff work together to provide full-spectrum care of our patients’ digestive health.

Responsibilities

• Perform receptionist duties and provide clerical support
• Greet patients and interface professionally with hospital staff, clinical staff, patients, and visitors
• Obtain prior authorization for office referrals
• Apply knowledge of current clinical diagnosis and billing codes (ICD-10 and CPT)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• One (1) year experience and/or training in a position of similar responsibility and complexity
• Experience and/or training in ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Experience and/or training with medical/insurance terminology
• Experience and/or training in computer applications
