Clinic Assistant/Operator

About the role

Join SIMEDHealth as a full-time Telephone Operator in Ocala, FL. You will be the warm and welcoming first point of contact for patients, answering incoming calls, directing them appropriately, assisting with inquiries, confirming appointments, and performing various office tasks to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phones and direct patient calls to appropriate extension using multi-line phone system
• Answer patient inquiries regarding general customer service questions (e.g., office directions, operating hours)
• Verify patient information, update as needed, and document appropriate healthcare information electronically into the patient chart
• Type detailed notes
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and operate an electronic fax server
• Read and interpret Hospital Call Schedules
• Review provider schedules daily and throughout the day for availability
• Be familiar with hospital consults and transitional care calls
• Assist in directing new patient calls to the new patient coordinator
• Retrieve voicemail messages throughout the day and return calls when necessary
• Observe patient and staff safety policies & procedures including HIPAA
• Provide basic information to patients about SIMEDHealth providers and services
• Stay seated for long periods of time

Requirements

• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple phone lines
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to verify and update patient information
• Proficiency typing detailed notes
• Ability to schedule appointments and verify insurance
• Familiarity with electronic fax server and Hospital Call Schedules
• Knowledge of HIPAA and safety procedures
