Responsibilities

• Provides primary and secondary health services for individuals and families presenting to the public health department for care in the areas of women's and men's health, including family planning and STD/HIV.
• Practices and prescribes as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (NP) according to and in compliance with the legal authority granted under the Nurse Practice Act of South Carolina, including the use of approved written protocols developed with a collaborating physician to guide practice.
• Establishes and monitors clinical practice quality in area of specialty.
• Provides autonomous, patient-centered care across Family Planning, STD/HIV Services, and other preventive programs in Spartanburg County and surrounding areas.
• Serves as an independent clinical provider—leading assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling for diverse and complex patient needs—while supporting quality improvement efforts, guiding nursing staff, and ensuring culturally competent, high-quality care across multiple clinic sites.
• Assesses the health of male and female patients seeking preventive health services per program policy and protocols.
• Performs examinations, including physical and screening for psychosocial problems per program policy and protocols.
• Provides care for patients at risk or with complex reproductive health needs and refers appropriately.
• Develops contraceptive plans including insertion and removal of LARCs.
