CLIN NURSE 4 - NICU - Nights - PT - Fountain Valley

About the role

UCI Health is one of California’s largest academic health systems and the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine. The Charge Nurse plays a critical leadership role in ensuring high-quality, individualized patient care within the Neo-Natal ICU department.

Responsibilities

This leadership role is responsible for organizing, planning, and directing nursing activities while overseeing clinical competency among staff. Responsibilities include policy development, consulting on complex nursing cases, mentoring new staff, leading performance improvement initiatives, and supporting continuing education programs.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years RN experience in an acute care facility and two (2) years of experience in the NICU
• Strong customer service skills with internal and external colleagues
• Ability to fully understand Patient Classification Staffing System
• Demonstrated leadership skills in leadership roles/responsibilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong multi-tasking and decision-making skills
• Completion of annual CBT courses and in-service
• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• AHA AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
• ANCC recognized Neonatal specialty certification

Qualifications

All External Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher. Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
