Climbing Wall Specialist, Camp Grossman, Summer Day Camp 2026

About the role

Camp Grossman is seeking a Climbing Wall Specialist to lead our adventure program. This full-time, on-site summer role is ideal for a safety-conscious, energetic individual passionate about helping kids grow.

Responsibilities

• Lead Climbing Sessions: Plan and facilitate safe, engaging climbing activities for campers of all skill levels.
• Safety & Gear Management: Inspect and maintain climbing hardware, ropes, harnesses, and helmets daily. Ensure all safety protocols and belay techniques are followed.
• Course Maintenance: Coordinate with the Program Director to manage gear rotations and inventory, keeping equipment in top condition.
• Coordinate with the Program Director to order and restock supplies during summer operations, and complete end-of-season inventories.
• Attend two all-day safety training sessions on June 25th and 26th, and possibly an additional Sunday training in June.
• Join all staff in the parking lot in the morning and afternoon to welcome campers and assist with their arrival and departure.
• May also plan and lead an activity, or help with a cookout, one or two evenings (after regular camp hours) throughout the summer.

Requirements

• High school graduates, with experience leading children in your subject area preferred.
• Experience working in and/or attending summer camp is a plus.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Pay

$16 per hour, with the pay rate determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Schedule

The regular camp season runs from June 29 to August 21, with the option to work the following "9th Week." All Staff Orientation begins with a virtual orientation on June 14 and continues in person on June 24, 25, and 26. Visiting Day is mandatory for all staff and occurs on Sunday, June 28.
