Climber Arborist

About the role

Located in Greensboro, NC (on‑site), this Utility Tree Climber position involves climbing trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems, performing tree pruning and removal for major electric utility providers, applying tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines, maintaining and operating tools such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts, and working as an active crew member with ground support and a foreperson.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Apply tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid driver’s license (required)
• Commercial Driver’s License‑Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement (preferred)
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work (preferred)
• Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law (preferred)
• ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional® (preferred)
