Legal$180k–$198k/yrFull-time

Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, seeks an experienced litigator for a highly flexible role that allows remote work without the administrative and client-development demands of a shareholder/partner track position. This position focuses on efficient, effective legal work with a lower billable hours target than full-time shareholder track attorneys.

About the role

Working with a dedicated client team(s) servicing some of the firm’s largest clients, this attorney will defend employers in employment litigation and charges of discrimination, primarily insured single/multi-plaintiff lawsuits and agency charges. While remote, the attorney will be included in the firm’s annual all-attorney retreat and have access to extensive learning and development resources.

Responsibilities

  • Develop defense strategy for employment litigation and agency charges
  • Perform legal research and draft pleadings
  • Manage discovery-related activities, including motion practice
  • Draft dispositive motions and supervise firm professionals
  • Take or defend depositions, argue motions, participate in mediation, hearings, trial, or other in-person aspects of lawsuits or agency charges as required by jurisdiction

Requirements

  • Actively licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of residence and Florida
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant employment litigation experience, either in-house or at a law firm
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Dedication to client service
  • High level of self-motivation, accountability for work product, and responsiveness due to remote nature of the position
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work collaboratively with attorneys, administrative professionals, and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Benefits

  • Comprehensive training and development programs, including an annual firm-wide Attorney Retreat
  • CLE and bar admission expense reimbursement
  • Several competitive annual bonus programs
  • 401(k) plan
  • Affordable health, life, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible spending accounts for dependent care and/or health care expenses
  • Employee assistance program
  • Back-up childcare program
  • Paid parental leave on-ramping program

Pay
