ClientTeam Counsel
Position Summary
Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, seeks an experienced litigator for a highly flexible role focusing on defending employers in employment litigation. This role allows for remote work without the administrative and client-development demands of a shareholder/partner track position.
About the Role
This role will focus on efficient, effective legal work with a lower billable hours target than our full-time shareholder track attorneys. It will involve working with a dedicated client team(s) servicing one of the firm’s largest clients, primarily defending employers in single/multi-plaintiff lawsuits. The attorney will develop defense strategy, perform legal research, draft pleadings, manage discovery-related activities, and draft dispositive motions.
Responsibilities
- Developing defense strategy
- Performing legal research
- Drafting pleadings
- Managing discovery-related activities (including motion practice)
- Drafting dispositive motions
- Working with a dedicated client team(s) servicing one of the firm’s largest clients
- Defending employers in employment litigation, primarily single/multi-plaintiff lawsuits
- From time to time, depending on jurisdiction and location, this role may also take or defend depositions, argue motions, participate in mediation, trial or other aspects of a lawsuit that require in-person presence
Requirements
- Qualified candidates must be and remain actively licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of residence as well as the jurisdiction in which they reside, if required by that jurisdiction.
- Candidates must be and remain actively licensed to practice law in good standing in California.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 5+ years of relevant employment litigation experience, either in-house or for a law firm.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Dedication to client service
- A high level of self-motivation, accountability for work product, and responsiveness
- Demonstrated ability to manage and work collaboratively with attorneys, administrative professionals, and clients, including excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Benefits
In accordance with various state and local laws, the expected salary range for this position varies from $180,000 to $209,000, depending on the location.
