About the role

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) is dedicated to reducing poverty and promoting self-sufficiency for individuals, families, and children in need within Howard County. CAC achieves its mission through five key services: housing assistance, food assistance, energy assistance, weatherization assistance, and early childhood education. Our work impacts the community by helping people navigate and escape poverty or providing support when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Building Support: Supports the Center Manager in monitoring building compliance and coordinating with internal team members to resolve issues, ensuring a safe and secure environment for children and staff.
  • Enrollment Assistance: Assists with the enrollment and recruitment of families using the CAC Universal Application for all program offerings.
  • Case Management: Manages a caseload of 40 or more families, conducts proper case management, inputs and updates family files based on agency standards and program requirements, and acts as a liaison among internal teams.
  • Data Management: Analyzes, monitors, and tracks reports for Early Childhood Education (ECE) and family engagement to facilitate the successful implementation of program and school readiness goals.
  • Family Outreach: Plans and implements ECE outreach and family engagement events and maintains relationships with community partners.
  • Relationship Building: Establishes Family Partnership Agreements with families and participates in data analysis.
  • Home Visits: Makes periodic home visits aligned with program requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in social or behavioral sciences, social work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess or be eligible to obtain qualifications to serve as a Child Care Center Director, as per Maryland State Department of Education – Office of Child Care requirements. 1+ years of experience in early childhood education settings and 1+ years of case management experience. Valid driver's license and ability to use personal vehicle for travel between CAC locations and community locations. Agile and evolving work environment skills, independent and collaborative work abilities, strong computer proficiency (especially with Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams), and English language proficiency.
  • PREFERRED Qualifications: CAP60 experience, project management experience, early childhood education experience, specifically in Head Start and Early Head Start.
