About the role
The Client Services Representative provides the administrative and technical skills necessary to organize, supervise, and complete various medical laboratory procedures within a section.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or basic sciences required.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital laboratory.
- MLS, MT, or MLT certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
- Qualifies as Testing Personnel for high complexity testing under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments.
Responsibilities
- Uses the UCB telephone system.
- Acts as liaison between customers and other laboratory divisions to provide assistance and/or technical advice, directions, and information.
- Interacts with customers toward effective problem resolution.
- Answers incoming telephone calls concerning laboratory test results, specimen requirements, turnaround times, and dispatches couriers to pick up specimens.
- Makes outgoing telephone calls to clients regarding critical values, canceled tests, or to follow up on client requests/problems.
- Consults with or refers to supervisor for problems beyond the scope of the position.
- Processes problem samples from the previous workday and provides exception handling to ensure testing is completed in a timely manner.
- Assists in compilation, tabulation, and preliminary analysis of data.
- Performs clerical duties, typing, and other assigned tasks.
- Adheres to internal controls established for the department and all safety protocols in each laboratory area.
- Follows established procedures for collecting and processing biological specimens for analysis.
- May operate a variety of laboratory equipment when doing bench work.
- Performs related duties as required.
