About the role

On behalf of our client — an established boutique retirement planning firm based in Cincinnati, Ohio — we are seeking a Client Service Advisor to join a close-knit, high-touch advisory team. This firm specializes exclusively in serving pre-retirees and retirees, delivering comprehensive, deeply personalized retirement income planning that goes well beyond conventional investment management. The firm's approach covers Social Security optimization, Medicare planning, estate planning, tax planning, and retirement income distribution — and clients consistently describe their experience as unlike anything they have encountered elsewhere.

This is a relationship-first role built for a seasoned financial services professional who genuinely loves working with clients, thrives with autonomy, and wants to grow long-term within a firm that is intentionally scaling. The right candidate will be a warm, energetic, and empathetic advisor who can educate clients clearly, follow proven processes with precision, and take ownership of a growing client service book without requiring day-to-day oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive, personalized financial plans tailored to each client's retirement income needs and goals
  • Conduct and lead annual client review meetings, typically two-hour in-depth sessions
  • Meet with clients to implement planning strategies and walk them through recommendations in clear, accessible language
  • Open client accounts and facilitate fund transfers
  • Prepare annuity and insurance policies and coordinate client paperwork and signatures
  • Educate clients on retirement income planning concepts including Social Security, Medicare, estate planning, and tax strategies
  • Analyze financial data and update client plans as circumstances evolve
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships grounded in trust, empathy, and consistent communication
  • Follow established firm processes and systems to deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience
  • Stay current on financial planning trends, regulations, and strategies relevant to a retirement-focused client base
  • Collaborate with the advisory team to ensure seamless client service delivery
  • Contribute to client retention through proactive engagement and exceptional service

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial advising or client servicing roles
  • Series 65 license required
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field
  • Highly personable, warm, and relationship-driven with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple, clear, and engaging language
  • High emotional intelligence and genuine empathy, particularly when working with aging clientele navigating major life transitions
  • Self-motivated and driven; able to work with significant autonomy and take ownership without requiring micromanagement
  • Creative problem-solving mindset with the ability to craft thoughtful, tailored financial plans
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established processes with precision
  • Patient, energetic, and engaging presence that resonates with a relationship-first firm culture
  • Open and teachable; genuinely willing to learn and embrace a distinctive planning philosophy
  • Commitment to long-term tenure and career growth within a single firm
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Experience with financial planning software

Preferred qualifications

  • Life insurance license (preferred)
  • Background at a large wirehouse or broker-dealer seeking a more relationship-focused, boutique environment
  • Experience with retirement income planning, Social Security optimization, Medicare planning, or estate and tax planning
  • Familiarity with de-cumulation strategies and retirement income distribution planning
  • Prior experience as an advisor who prefers deep client service over business development or hunting for new clients

Benefits

  • Base salary: $90,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus tied to client servicing metrics (structure being finalized)
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • No employer-sponsored group health plan currently in place; firm is open to discussing a health stipend arrangement for the right candidate
  • Significant opportunity for advancement and long-term growth as the firm intentionally scales

Work environment and culture

This is a small, family-owned, boutique firm with a deeply collaborative and relationship-centered culture. The team is close-knit, energetic, and genuinely passionate about the work they do for clients. The office environment is warm and welcoming — clients are treated like family, and that same spirit extends to the team. The firm values autonomy, trust, and long-term commitment, and is actively building the infrastructure to grow without being dependent on any single individual. For the right person, this is a place to plant roots, grow professionally, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of clients navigating one of the most important financial transitions of their lives. The role is based on-site in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, and the firm has a strong preference for candidates with a reasonable local commute.
