About the role

The Client Accounting Advisory (CAA) Manager will develop a new service offering for Chazin & Company, a premier provider of virtual outsourced accounting services for nonprofit organizations. This role involves motivating, teaching, and directing a team to deliver high-level advisory and accounting services, ensuring consistent, high-value support for nonprofit clients. The CAA Manager provides oversight, training, and advice to both clients and the assigned team.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Develop external relationships with auditors, vendors, and bankers to promote Chazin & Company’s services.
    • Market Client Accounting Advisory Services (CAAS) to these contacts.
    • Assist in developing marketing efforts for CAAS.
    • Participate in teaching/webinars and speaking engagements to support the service line.
    • Educate the client services team on CAAS offerings and support existing clients with specialized services.
    • Manage a portfolio of clients with professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Client Consulting
    • Provide accounting assessment services to new clients, including written reports and leadership presentations.
    • Deliver CFO-level services, such as budget preparation, cash flow analysis, program-level analysis, and financial dashboards.
    • Present financial information to client Boards and/or Committees.
    • Manage the client audit process, including scheduling, training accountants, enforcing deadlines, and reviewing client assistance.
    • Train clients on interpreting financial data.
    • Stay updated on financial regulations and communicate changes to the team.
  • Management
    • Direct, coach, mentor, and review the work of a team.
    • Communicate regularly with clients and Executive Management regarding team performance.
    • Conduct performance reviews.
    • Implement and manage all CAAS-related activity, including policies and procedures.
    • Respond to client service concerns/issues.
    • Manage team billable hours to maximize utilization and efficiency.
    • Communicate with accounting staff through team meetings, one-on-one meetings, and informal check-ins.
    • Participate in weekly leadership calls, quarterly all-staff meetings, and annual management retreats.
    • Communicate regularly with Executive Management regarding clients and staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of eight years of broad-based accounting experience.
  • Minimum of five years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience leading and managing a team.
  • Experience advising leadership-level contributors.
  • Two or more years of nonprofit audit experience (preferred).
  • Active CPA (preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to thrive in a virtual, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and multiple data management and analysis tools.
  • Successful history of remote work and management of remote staff.
