About the role

Cleveland Clinic Florida is seeking an accomplished, visionary, and collaborative Division Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery to lead and advance one of the nation’s premier regional cardiothoracic surgery programs.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the strategic vision and direction for Cardiothoracic Surgery across Cleveland Clinic Florida.
  • Lead a highly integrated regional program focused on exceptional clinical outcomes, innovation, patient experience, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop outstanding surgical faculty while fostering physician engagement and succession planning.
  • Partner with Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute leadership and hospital executives to expand access to advanced cardiothoracic surgical care throughout South Florida.
  • Lead the continued growth of complex cardiac and thoracic surgery programs, including structural heart collaboration, advanced heart failure therapies, mechanical circulatory support, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, thoracic oncology, and future program development throughout the region.
  • Champion quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and value-based care initiatives across the division.
  • Advance Cleveland Clinic’s academic mission through clinical research, education, innovation, and faculty development.
  • Build collaborative relationships across cardiology, vascular surgery, cardiac anesthesia, critical care, pulmonology, oncology, imaging, and advanced practice providers.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice with a balanced administrative and surgical schedule.
  • Provide physician leadership for the campus-based surgical program at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital while partnering with hospital leadership to support quality initiatives, operational excellence, physician engagement, and continued program growth.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Eligible for unrestricted Florida medical licensure.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in complex cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Progressive physician leadership experience within an academic medical center or integrated health system.
  • Accomplishments in clinical research, education, faculty development, and program building are highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, inspire collaboration, and drive organizational growth.

Qualifications

  • Completed medical school and residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Completed fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery (preferred).
  • Completed additional training in relevant subspecialties (preferred).
  • Experience in academic medicine and/or healthcare administration.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy clinical practice and administrative responsibilities.
