Position Summary
This position provides direction and support services for the agency responsibilities to the Juvenile Court. Activities are related to Placement, Dependency proceedings and Termination/Adoption.
Position Responsibilities
- Determine and schedule court appearances for all above-mentioned legal proceedings and prepare legal documents: summonses/subpoenas/affidavits/orders and related typing assignments.
- Assemble, take photos of designated children, verify information, advance them to the proceedings.
- Prepare packets of documents and court lists for Juvenile Court, Hearing Masters, Guardians ad litem, agency Solicitors, agency personnel, etc.
- Data entry all pertinent court information.
- Accumulate statistical information.
- For bilingual Clerk Typist III, translate forms from English to Spanish, and interpret client phone calls from Spanish to English.
Minimum Education And Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D certification from a recognized issuing agency and;
- Six months as Clerk Typist II, OR;
- One year of progressively complex clerical experience.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to make independent determinations for processing information.
- Ability to organize work in a manner which insures accomplishment of priority items.
- Ability to assemble, organize and present status of information from various sources.
- Ability to use discretion and judgment in dispensing information.
- Ability to proofread varied reports to maintain consistent administrative rules/statistics.
- Ability to compose straightforward correspondence such as transmittal or acknowledgements using personal computer
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to handle stress.
Physical Demands
- Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds a distance of fifteen (15) feet or less.
Working Environment
Normal office environment.
