Clerk 2 - OPOTA

About the role

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking a Clerk 2 at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA). This position supports the enhancement of police officer training and law enforcement improvement, reporting to the London, OH office. OPOTA houses both Commission and Academy staff, overseeing training requirements, certification standards, and advanced tactical instruction for Ohio peace officers and related personnel.

Responsibilities

• Performs general clerical duties, including:
  • Processing and registering Academy student information.
  • Creating dorm room assignments and directing students/instructors to appropriate rooms.
  • Logging, coding, and tracking course data; researching and correcting filed information.
  • Maintaining and purging files; assembling mailings.
• Acts as receptionist, providing information to students and instructors:
  • Answering and directing phone calls; taking messages.
  • Greeting visitors; photocopying, faxing, and filing correspondence.
  • Maintaining a daily log of shift activities and gauge readings.
• Performs other related duties:
  • Typing materials and operating video display terminals for data entry/retrieval.
  • Operating word processing equipment and personal computers.
  • Assisting with filing for other agency sections.
  • Ensuring doors are locked and notifying personnel of issues (e.g., power outages, copier malfunctions).

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• One of the following:
  • 4 months of training or experience in office practices and procedures.
  • 3 months of training or experience in personal computer use.
  • 3 months of training or experience in customer service.
  • 4 months of experience as a Clerk 1 (12111AG).
  • Equivalent combination of the above qualifications.

Benefits

This is a classified, full-time position represented by the OCSEA union.

Pay

$21.70/hr - $23.95/hr

Schedule

Full-time, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Location

United States of America-OHIO-Madison County-London (primary). Additional work may occur in Franklin County-Columbus.
