About the program

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offered by AARP Foundation helps individuals over 55 who are currently between jobs learn new skills while giving back to the community.

How it works

• Paid Training Assignments: SCSEP matches eligible jobseekers with local nonprofits and public agencies (such as day care centers, senior centers, schools, and hospitals) for paid training assignments.

Benefits

• Gain work experience that you can add to your résumé.
• Receive on-the-job training in new computer or vocational skills.
• Get professional job placement assistance to find full-time or part-time employment.
• Work an average of 20 hours per week.

Eligibility

To apply for a training assignment, you must be age 55 or older, unemployed, and living on a limited income.

Positions include but are not limited to

• Administrative-Clerical
• Custodian-Building Maintenance
• Customer Service Representative

Qualifications

• 55 years of age or older
• Meet income guidelines
• Must be unemployed
• Must be a resident of one of the following counties: Schuylkill, Bradford, Columbia, Lackawanna, Monroe, Montour, Pike, Wayne
