About the Program

AARP Foundation’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) helps jobseekers age 55+ who are currently unemployed and living on a limited income gain work experience while giving back to their community.

How It Works

• Paid training assignments with local nonprofits and public agencies such as day care centers, senior centers, schools, and hospitals.
• Average of 20 hours per week.

• Gain work experience to add to your résumé.
• Receive on-the-job training in new computer or vocational skills.
• Get professional job-placement assistance to find full-time or part-time employment.

Eligibility

• Age 55 or older.
• Unemployed.
• Living on a limited income.
• Resident of one of the following counties: Schuylkill, Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Monroe, Montour, Pike, Potter, Susquehanna, Wayne.
