About the Role
On the Inpatient General Surgery Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital, the Clerical Coordinator serves by managing administrative tasks, coordinating patient care, and ensuring smooth communication among healthcare providers on the unit.
Responsibilities
- Handle clerical duties such as answering phone calls, managing patient records, and scheduling appointments. Ensure that all patient files are accurate and up-to-date.
- Greet patients and visitors, assist with admissions and discharges, and address patient inquiries, directing them to the appropriate healthcare professionals as needed.
- Serve as a communication link between patients, nurses, doctors, and other departments, relaying important information and ensuring that all parties are informed.
- Monitor and order medical supplies as needed, maintaining an organized and well-stocked unit.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate is required.
- Clerical Coordinator or Unit Secretary experience in an Acute Inpatient setting is preferred.
Schedule
- Part-time: 24 hours per week, Evening Shift (8-hour shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.).
- Rotating weekends and holidays are required.
