About the role
The Clerical Associate (C.A.) is a member of the patient care team responsible for performing clerical functions, serving as a role model for customer service, handling various forms of communication, maintaining patient records, managing supplies, and providing support to professional staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical functions including data entry and maintaining patient medical records.
- Handle verbal, written, telephone, and electronic communications at the central nursing station.
- Order and control equipment, supplies, and ensure the environment of care is maintained.
- Provide assistance to professional staff in using the electronic medical record.
- Perform other support duties within the job scope.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Necessary Skills: Typing 25 cwpm or 7000 key strokes per hour, data entry skills, ability to write/read in English, basic math skills, confidentiality, and computer proficiency.
- Required Licensure/Certifications: Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer, and annually thereafter, for the Psych Unit.
- PREFERRED Licensure/Certifications: CPR training.
- Required Experience: 1 - 2 years of general clerical experience in a customer service environment.
- PREFERRED Experience: Customer Service experience in a healthcare environment.
