About the role
The Clerical Associate (C.A.) is a member of the patient care team responsible for performing clerical functions, serving as a role model for customer service, handling various forms of communication, maintaining patient records, managing supplies, and providing support to professional staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical functions including data entry and record keeping.
- Serve as a role model for customer service, interacting appropriately with patients and families.
- Handle verbal, written, telephone, and electronic communications at the central nursing station.
- Maintain the paper copy of the patient medical record.
- Order and control equipment, supplies, and the environment of care.
- Provide assistance as needed to professional staff in the use of the electronic medical record.
- Perform other support duties within job scope.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Necessary Skills:
- Typing 25 cwpm or 7000 key strokes per hour data entry skills.
- Ability to write/read in English.
- Demonstrate basic math skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate computer proficiency.
- Required Experience: 1 - 2 years of general clerical experience in a customer service environment.
- Prioritize: Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of date of hire or transfer, and annually thereafter, for the Psych Unit.
- Preferred Licensure/Certifications: CPR training.
