About the role

Metlang is a veteran‑owned provider of interpretation, translation, and monitoring services to law enforcement nationwide. Since 1990 it has served the U.S. Department of Justice, employing bilingual professionals with advanced or expert fluency in over 100 languages. The Cleared Urdu Analytic Linguist monitors, transcribes, translates, interprets, and analyzes source material to assist investigations into narco‑trafficking, counterfeiting, terrorism, fraud, and money laundering.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor: Listen to or read foreign language communications and type summaries into English.
  • Transcribe: Render spoken word into written form of the same language.
  • Translate: Render spoken or written word of one language into written form of another language.
  • Interpret: Translate orally, consecutively or simultaneously, from source to target language.
  • Analyze: Examine methodically and in detail the constitution of information for explanation and interpretation.

Requirements

  • Federal clearance a plus.
  • Clear, concise, effective written and spoken communication skills in English and Urdu.
  • Ability to summarize and translate audio and text, including slang and colloquialisms, in real time.
  • Demonstrate prior interpreting and/or translating experience in a professional or personal setting.
  • Adequately prioritize tasks while demonstrating attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and text‑message terminology in English and Urdu.
  • Typing speed exceeding 40 words per minute.
  • Capable of adapting well under pressure and functioning cohesively in a team environment.
  • Availability to work a rotating schedule.
  • Candidates must pass writing, reading, listening, and speaking language tests in English and Urdu or provide prior test results as required by contract.
  • Availability to work full time locally and travel out of state for extended periods of time.

Pay

$40 per hour.
