Cleared Lead DevOps Engineer
About the role
Bestgate Engineering is seeking a cleared Lead DevOps Engineer to support the development and sustainment of a reliable, highly available platform that orchestrates microservices within a modernized operational system using cutting edge technologies. This role is ideal for a DevOps professional with strong cloud infrastructure, automation, containerization, and CI/CD experience supporting mission critical environments. This position will also provide technical leadership across infrastructure priorities, sprint execution, and DevOps team coordination.
Responsibilities
- Architecting infrastructure leveraging AWS technologies and services
- Developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation scripting using technologies such as Python, Ansible, and Terraform
- Managing sprint priorities, ticket decomposition, and team tasking in Agile environments
- Evaluating and optimizing cloud infrastructure costs and AWS service utilization
- Collaborating with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability
- Troubleshooting infrastructure issues and ensuring system uptime
- Managing CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab runners and Argo CD
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
- 12+ years of professional experience; or 10+ years with a related Master’s degree
- Extensive experience architecting infrastructure leveraging AWS technologies and services
- Strong background in containerization technologies including Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, Docker, and Docker Compose
- Experience performing high level functional systems analysis, integration, implementation, and complex issue resolution
- Experience managing sprint priorities, ticket decomposition, and team tasking in Agile environments
- Experience tracking ticket execution and driving technical direction aligned to program and product needs
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab runners and Argo CD
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within a team oriented environment
Qualifications
- Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure including EC2, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS, Event Router, Athena, and Step Functions using Terraform and auto scaling
- Understanding of AWS networking principles including VPCs, NATs, and IP Gateway
- Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and ensure system uptime
- Kubernetes experience with a focus on EKS, ECS, and/or Fargate
Skills
