About the Role

The Assembler II performs assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military standards, FDA standards, and other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal, and/or written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned assembly tasks
  • Prepare components prior to assembly, including cleaning, marking, and inspecting components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies
  • Test finished assemblies
  • Operate assigned equipment and machinery (e.g., Die Attach Machine, Wire Bonder, X-Ray Machine)
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures when handling hazardous chemicals
  • Identify and report any difficulties affecting correctness and quality of work to lead or supervisor
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and team meetings for improvement
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy
  • Cross-train to work on at least one process within the cell
  • Complete job-related company training courses
  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, Standard Work, and other initiatives
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Perform any other task assigned by supervisor or management
  • Operate a microscope (up to 8 hours a day)
  • Understand and/or participate in internal/external audits
  • May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of small component assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and manufacturing techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading comprehension of the English language
  • Basic computer skills
  • Accurate color vision, near vision, depth perception, and other required vision capabilities
  • Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity
  • Adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness
  • Ability to interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information, and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to work well in a moderate to high-paced work environment in a high-volume setting

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • IPC Soldering Certification (preferred)

Working Conditions

  • May work in a Class 7 or 8 Cleanroom or general manufacturing environment
  • Up to 8 hours of microscope work daily
  • Use of safety equipment including eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and other required PPE
  • Exposure to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes
  • Standing: approximately 25% (may vary depending on work task)
  • Sitting: approximately 75% (may vary depending on work task)
  • Lifting: up to 40 pounds
  • Pushing: up to 40 pounds
  • Mental/Visual: use of soldering equipment, microscopes/magnifying glasses
  • Workspace: assembly cell

Pay

$20.76 - $28.97 per hour
