Cleaners 2026-2027

4 hours per day, 12 months per year. Shift may vary.

Minimum pay rate: $17.00 per hour. Candidates hired for a permanent Cleaner position are eligible to receive a $1,000 Sign-On Bonus. Sign-on payments will be made after the candidate has worked in the position as follows: $400 after 60 days, $300 after 120 days, and $300 after 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform all routine cleaning duties in school buildings as directed by the Head Custodian or designee.
• Clean, sweep, mop, wash walls, dust, clean and polish furniture and windows, woodwork, railings, radiators, window coverings, etc.
• Empty waste baskets, pencil sharpeners, and dispose of rubbish.
• Clean and wash lavatory fixtures, chalkboards, and chalk trays.
• Replace light bulbs, dispensers, and fill dispensers with soap and disposable paper products.
• Vacuum and clean carpets and furniture; straighten office, classroom, and cafeteria furniture.
• Set up and prepare rooms for meetings, programs, etc.
• Secure and lock windows and doors; turn off lights and small appliances.
• Maintain awareness of all safety precautions, procedures, and report problems or deficiencies.
• Assist educational personnel as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or designee.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Some cleaning experience desirable but not necessary.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues.
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
• Positive attitude and ability to build healthy relationships with students, staff, and families.
