About the role
Cleaners are essential members of our facilities team, responsible for ensuring that campus buildings and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and welcoming. This role plays a key part in maintaining a healthy and professional environment for students, staff, and visitors by performing a wide range of routine and specialized cleaning tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain floors, hallways, stairwells, walls, windows, and other surfaces using mops, buffers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
- Sanitize and restock restrooms, locker rooms, kitchens, and common areas to meet health and safety standards.
- Safely handle and dispose of trash, recycling, and, when applicable, medical or biohazardous waste.
- Strip, wax, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Respond to spills and incidents involving bodily fluids such as blood, vomit, or urine, following proper safety protocols.
- Clean and polish furniture, metal fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
- Replace light bulbs and clean fixtures using ladders or scaffolds as needed.
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for meetings or special events.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting sidewalks, or mowing lawns.
- Follow proper procedures for mixing and using cleaning solutions and wearing protective gear.
- Monitor supply levels and report maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate supervisor.

Job Requirements
- Physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
- Able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.
- Preference will be given to those with manual labor experience, 5 years continuous employment with one employer, and/or at least a High School diploma.
