This role is ideal for an engineering professional with strong technical expertise in building systems, energy modeling, and project evaluation who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve energy performance and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive technical reviews of complex energy efficiency and demand management projects.
- Evaluate project specifications, engineering designs, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with program requirements, applicable energy codes, and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports outlining findings, recommendations, and project eligibility.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, customers, and stakeholders to provide technical guidance and support incentive eligibility reviews.
- Participate in technical meetings with project teams, contractors, stakeholders, and engineering partners.
- Develop, maintain, and improve Excel-based energy savings calculation tools to support standardized project evaluations.
- Conduct site visits to verify equipment installations, assess operating conditions, and validate project performance.
- Research and evaluate emerging energy technologies, providing engineering assessments, risk/benefit analysis, and recommendations for future program implementation.
- Partner with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams to resolve technical issues and support continuous program improvement.
- Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance engineering workflows, efficiency, quality, and customer experience.
- Support additional engineering projects and technical assignments as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience focused on energy efficiency, building systems, or demand-side management.
- Strong knowledge of energy codes and standards, including ASHRAE, IECC, and the New York State Technical Resource Manual (TRM).
- Experience performing technical reviews and energy analyses for commercial or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in energy modeling, bin analysis, engineering calculations, and building performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of commercial building systems, including:
- HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, heat pumps, air handling units)
- Building Automation/Management Systems (BAS/BMS)
- Motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Building envelope systems
- Experience with project management, including coordinating project scope, schedules, deliverables, and multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with one or more energy modeling platforms such as:
- eQUEST
- DOE-2
- Trane TRACE 3D Plus
- OpenStudio
- TREAT
- NEO
- IES VE
- Carrier HAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Advanced Excel skills are highly preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
Pay
$50.00 - $52.00 per hour
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM EST. Overtime as needed.
Location
New York, NY (Hybrid - In Office as Needed)
