The Retail Home Consultant role at Clayton is focused on delivering a world‑class home‑buying experience. You will guide customers through identifying floor plans, selecting options, and coordinating the construction process.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in choosing floor plans, options, and managing the construction timeline.
• Protect the Clayton brand by maintaining high integrity throughout the sales process.
• Continuously develop expertise in finance, mortgage concepts, product knowledge, sales presentation skills, and the local market.
• Maintain customer files and provide timely follow‑up via the company’s CRM system.
• Support the manager with inventory selection, model decoration, and overall home appearance.
• Develop and execute a strategic sales and marketing plan to increase home‑center traffic.
• Present display homes, demonstrate features and benefits, and add value for potential buyers.
• Set home‑center appointments using prospect databases and convert ad calls and web leads.
• Participate in all sales meetings, training opportunities, and company‑sponsored functions.
• Collaborate with team members, assisting with miscellaneous duties as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of relationship‑driven business‑to‑consumer sales experience (preferred).
• General understanding of the retail environment.
• Ability to obtain the required manufactured‑home sales licensing and comply with related legal requirements.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to excel in and contribute to a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Willingness to work the required schedule, including Saturdays.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Physical ability to walk the lot and show homes year‑round, and to lift/move items up to 75 lb.
• Passes criminal background check and drug screening.

Compensation

A base salary of $50,000 plus a lucrative commission plan, offering unlimited career and earning potential.
