Department Special Instructions to Applicants
This recruitment will be used to fill five part-time Classroom Technology Services Student Technician positions (up to 24 hours per week) with Academic Technologies at Oregon State University (OSU).
Position Duties
- Provide in-person, phone, and remote support for classroom, presentation, and audiovisual technologies used by instructors, staff, and students.
- Conduct troubleshooting, service, and testing of classroom technology systems and report issues through the Support Desk ticketing system.
- Staff the Classroom Technology Services Presentation Support Desk and assist customers using classroom and presentation technologies.
- Conduct weekly classroom readiness inspections to verify technology functionality, room condition, and instructional readiness.
- Provide basic instruction and support on the operation of classroom audiovisual and presentation systems.
- Afford assistance with event and examination support, including evening and weekend activities in Milam Auditorium and other campus venues.
- Perform end-of-term classroom servicing, including equipment testing, cleaning, inventory verification, documentation, and classroom technology reset activities.
- Afford assistance with technology installations, upgrades, inventory management, asset tracking, and collection of classroom technology performance metrics.

Qualifications
- Must have working knowledge of audio/visual equipment.
- Must have working knowledge of computers and presentation software.
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative with tasks.

- Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to providing professional, courteous support.

Additional Required Qualifications
- This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq.
- Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
Working Conditions/Schedule
- Work is performed in classrooms, laboratories, conference rooms, event spaces, Milam Auditorium, and other campus facilities.
- Duties require frequent walking between locations; setup, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of audiovisual and classroom technology equipment; weekly classroom readiness checks; monthly inventory audits and asset management assessments; and end-of-term room servicing activities.
- End-of-term responsibilities include thorough cleaning, equipment testing, basic repairs, inventory verification, documentation, and collection of classroom technology metrics.
- Student employees may assist with evening and weekend events, presentations, and examination support in Milam Auditorium.
- Position requires lifting and carrying equipment up to 25 pounds, occasional extended periods of standing, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to provide customer service and Presentation Support Desk coverage.
- Regular shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Students may also have the opportunity to sign up for optional evening and weekend event support assignments to earn additional work hours.
- The position is limited to a maximum of 24 hours per week.
