About the Role
Applications are now being accepted for Classroom Teaching Aide positions at Edith Bowen Laboratory School, part of the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education, Health, and Human Services. Responsibilities
- Prepares lesson materials and classroom curriculum based on individual student needs.
- Assists lead teacher in developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Works with students in small groups helping with reading and math.
- Provides extra support to students with physical, mental, or linguistic limitations.
- Maintains detailed records of student’s progress on instruction or behavioral goals.
- Supports students with assistive devices and supportive technologies.
- Performs specialized tasks to achieve instructional and behavioral objectives.
- Monitors students during activities and downtime and intervenes in case of adverse activities.
- Adapts classroom activities and assignments to serve the purpose and reinforces class objectives.
- Communicates with students to determine their needs and ensures that these needs are being fulfilled properly.
- Operates equipment such as computers, printers, and laminators.
- Enforces school rules and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working in an elementary school setting.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in education or related field is preferred.
Skills
- Must be flexible and willing to learn.
- Must have a good attitude and strong work ethic.
- Must be able to get along well with others.
Working Conditions
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
