Classroom Teacher - Vocational CCTE Supply Chain Management

About the role

The teacher will conduct an instructional program according to the State Board of Education rules as they relate to the full scope of the Supply Chain Management program being conducted. This position is responsible for the professional instructions designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in the subject area. Teach students directly related skills on how to be successful citizens and workers in the 21st century. Prepare students for diverse post-high school education and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Create an educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and needs of the students;
  • Prepare instructional materials for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation to supervisor/administrator upon request;
  • Introduce students to basic principles of logistics, review the history and development of distribution networks, and examine how they function within the supply chain;
  • Provide students with a deep understanding of the dynamics of distribution and logistics operations, the warehousing skills needed for the tracking and managing of inventory, and the problem-solving skills used by logisticians in today’s complex business environments;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement a vocational program involving lectures, collaborative student discussions, and problem-based learning modules for optimal student learning;
  • Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities (earning industry-recognized certifications) to upgrade knowledge;
  • Plan curriculum and develop lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students within state and school requirements based on the educational, physical, and emotional levels of student development;
  • Aid colleagues with CCTE Programs aligned courses with the implementation of effective CCTE practices;
  • Teach the basic concepts of technology skills and knowledge to students, utilizing curriculum designated by Shelby County Schools;
  • Plan and facilitate fall/spring/summer sessions with school-based educators;
  • Collaborate with school-based instructors to develop formative assessments that align with the Tennessee Academic Standards;
  • Motivate students and provide consistent reinforcement of learning skills and provide continuous assessment and feedback to students for all learning activities;
  • Interact with students on a personal level and understand their learning capabilities;
  • Evaluate each student's growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught and provide written and oral progress reports to parents/guardians, administrators, and selected staff; administer tests and assessments;
  • Administer industry certification testing in accordance with division testing practices;
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, and district and administrative regulations;
  • Sponsor career and technical student organizations and tutor students as requested;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or above PLUS five (5) years of full-time work experience out of the past eight (8) years;
  • Must hold certifications directly aligned to the Supply Chain Management field;
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position.
