About the role

Heights Christian Schools (HCS) is a multi-site ministry seeking passionate and dedicated teachers to lead in a Christ-centered environment. This position offers spiritual leadership, academic guidance, and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging lesson plans and foster both academic and spiritual growth.
  • Manage the classroom effectively and partner with parents and staff to support student success.
  • Lead students in accepting God's gift of salvation and serve as a Christian witness and role model.
  • Foster a Christ-centered, safe, caring, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work with the administration and staff to address the spiritual formation needs of the students.
  • Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  • Teach classes as assigned, integrating biblical principles and the Christian worldview throughout the curriculum.
  • Plan a program of study that provides opportunities for all students to achieve their God-given potential in all areas including academics, arts, athletics, and service.
  • Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials to reach the whole child-spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional, and meet the needs of ALL learners.
  • Use classroom management techniques that build children's ability to make choices and be self-directed.
  • Plan and implement field trips, guest speakers, and other media for a balanced classroom.
  • Regularly assess the learning of students and provide progress reports as required.
  • Respond in a timely manner to parent concerns and requests for help or information.
  • Participate in formal and informal parent-teacher conferences.
  • Participate in continuous professional development through professional reading, college course work, in-services, workshops, and conferences.
  • Conduct required emergency safety drills in coordination with school leadership.
  • Report to the administration any campus safety, health, and maintenance needs that are observed.
  • Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any assigned duty.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited postsecondary institution or participation in a program to complete such a degree within a specified time period.
  • A teaching credential is preferred.
  • At least one year of successful experience working with children.
  • Receive a fingerprint clearance to work with children from State and Federal governments.
  • Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in doing word processing, creating and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, and accessing the Internet.
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.

  • Spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to 'train a child in the way he should go' (Prov. 22:6, NIV).
  • An enthusiastic visionary, an encourager, and a self-starter with a high energy level.
  • Sensitivity toward staff, parents, volunteers, and children, and an ability to interact effectively with them.
  • A team player, able to develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with courtesy, patience, friendliness, dignity, respect, and a good sense of humor.
  • Emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism under everyday stress.
  • Discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in the operation of the classroom and school.
  • Acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speak with clear articulation.
  • Respectful submission and loyalty to constituted authority.
  • A personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste consistent with school policy.

Benefits

Starting at $45,000, commensurate with experience.

Pay

$45,000 starting salary, with pay scale commensurate with experience.
